Aizawl, Aug 4: Â A 78-year-old man from eastern Mizoram travels 3 kilometres every day to reach his classroom while putting on a school uniform and carrying a bag full of books.
Putting age behind, Lalringthara, a resident of Hruaikawn village in Champhai district in Mizoram, has now become an inspiration for many.
Despite his age, Lalringthara’s determination and commitment to education serve as a reminder that it is never too late to pursue one’s dreams. His dedication to learning showcases the power of passion and serves as a testament to the importance of lifelong learning.
He enrolled himself in class 9 at Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) High School in Hruaikawn village for this academic year.
Who is Lalringthara?
Lalringthara was born in 1945 in Khuangleng village near the Indo-Myanmar border. He wasn’t able to continue his education after Class 2 following his father’s death and had to help his mother in the jhum fields. He was the only child of his parents.
After moving from one place to the other, in  1995 he settled in New Hruaikawn village.
He can read and write in Mizo language, and is currently working as the Church Security Guard at New Hruaikawn.
