AHAM appoints George Prince Cheran Momin as its new president; Champion resigns to foray into politics

Tura, Dec 13: The Central Executive Board (CEB) of A•chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has informed that George Prince Cheran Momin has been appointed as its president effective immediately as Champion R. Sangma has decided to step down from the post of presidentship because he has joined a political party.

George Prince Cheran Momin was earlier serving as the Vice-President of AHAM.

In a press statement issues on Sunday, AHAM informed, “Shri Champion R. Sangma, President of AHAM –CEB has stepped down from the post of the President to venture into the mainstream politics to serve the people of the region and had passed on the baton of leadership and the mantle to the Vice-President of the Organisation, Shri George Prince Cheran Momin. The former President of AHAM-CEB has joined the political party to serve in better interest of the region and in accordance to the Constitution of the Organisation(AHAM) being the apolitical organization, have asked his comrades of the organization to take the organization into the next level under the Presidency of Shri George Prince Cheran Momin. While stepping down from his Presidency, he had asked the organization leaders to take initiatives respecting the constitution of the organization and had put his high hopes upon the three pillars of the organization – the President and his CEB, the Advisory Board and the Consultancy Panel to take the organization into new heights.”

The meeting for the change of leadership of the organization was held on Saturday (December 11, 2021)
At the same time, AHAM also relieved its Chief Organising Secretary, Cherian Momin, from all his duties immediately until further notice as he has also joined a political party.

Bromio Marak has been appointed as the new Chief Organizing Secretary.
