AHAM Prez dismisses mass resignation by ‘excommunicated’ members as publicity stunt

Tura, April 20: Following the mass resignation by 71 members of A.chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) from the primary membership of the organization on April 18, 2023, its president George Prince Cheran Momin has stated that the members claiming to have resigned are actually the ‘excommunicated’ members who had been expelled from the organisation long ago, and their recent antic is only to get media attention for their vested interest.

In a statement on Thursday, he said he is ‘very shocked and surprised’ that some of the former AHAM members updated AHAM CEB Tura and unit from Bolori, Aradongga and Boko about their resignation.

He, however, has yet to receive even a single resignation letter. “I’ve not received not a single resignation letter till date, and as per newspaper report in connection with those names cited, I’ve no reason to entertain as question of mass resignation doesn’t arise when they were excommunicated way back during the tenure of former President Champion R. Sangma. It’s a fact some disgruntled elements simply wanted to draw public attention to their vested interest media stunts,” he said.

He further informed that many graduates and post graduates have joined AHAM, and opined that young people hold more power than ever in making a positive impact on the nation.

“At the present I believe that AHAM youngsters would bring progressive and resolve certain cultural matters,” Momin said adding that “any prejudice media stunt cannot break the organisation spirit”.
