Guwahati, Dec 6: Former Lok Sabha MP and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) leader Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take decisive action against the reported atrocities targeting Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Ajmal expressed deep concern over recent reports of violence and discrimination against the Hindu community in Bangladesh, including attacks on homes and properties. He termed these incidents as grave violations of human rights and international laws protecting minorities.
“The rising violence represents a direct threat to the safety and dignity of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, tarnishing the country’s image globally,” Ajmal wrote.
Citing India’s historical and cultural ties with Bangladesh, Ajmal emphasized India’s moral responsibility to advocate for the safety of vulnerable communities in the neighbouring country. He urged Prime Minister Modi to leverage India’s global influence to press the Bangladeshi government into taking swift action.
“India can play a crucial role in ensuring that the Bangladeshi government prioritizes the security of its minorities and takes urgent measures to uphold their rights,” he added.
Ajmal also called for India to raise the issue on international platforms, ensuring that Bangladesh is held accountable for safeguarding its minorities. He expressed hope that India’s intervention would prompt immediate corrective actions and restore a sense of safety and justice for the affected communities.
