All arrangements made to bring back Meghalaya’s citizens, students from Sikkim: Paul

Shillong, Oct 6: MDA government spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh on Friday informed that arrangements have been made to bring back students of the state from natural calamity hit Sikkim.

“As soon as the news reached the state government, we sent transport facilities to pick up students stranded in Sikkim. As we speak, students are being picked,” Lyngdoh told reporters.

“Based on the advisory that they should leave Sikkim immediately, we have taken it very seriously and we hope that within the next 2-3 days the operation will be completed,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government has activated the helpline number 1800-345-3644 for citizens of Meghalaya who may require assistance due to the natural calamity which occurred recently in the state of Sikkim.

A government statement said students and Citizens of the State can call the helpline number 1800-345-3644 for assistance they may need related to the above-mentioned Calamity.

Further, in case of emergency students can contact Mrs A. Ali, Additional Director of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Meghalaya, Contact no: 9863063305, and Mr. F. B Ramsiej, Deputy Director Higher and Technical Education, Government of Meghalaya, Contact No: 7005037347, for coordination and redressal of issues.
