Ambubachi Mela: Kamakhya temple to remain closed between 9 pm-5 am from June 22 to 26

Guwahati, June 11: Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah on Saturday said that devotees who are planning to move up towards main sanctum at Kamakhya Devalaya after 9 pm during Ambubachi Mela will now have to leave the temple premises due to over crowding.

Mallabaruah on Saturday also held a review meeting at the Kamakhya Temple to take stock of the preparations ahead of Ambubachi Mela.

While speaking to the media, he said the route for the devotees from ascending upwards will be closed by the authorities after 9pm and will open only after am the next day.

This year, the Ambubachi Mela will begin from June 22 to 26.

The Kamakhya temple, one of the oldest temple and known as the revered centers of Tantric practices is situated at the Nilachal hills in Guwahati.

The Kamakhya temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya.
