Ambulance carrying pregnant woman not given way in WKH, video goes viral

Must read

Shillong, Sept 17: A disheartening viral video has recently surfaced online, capturing an ambulance carrying a pregnant woman in a critical condition trapped in traffic.  The video of the incident has sparked outrage among citizens, who are calling for swift action to be taken against the perpetrators.

The video is said to be from Meghalaya’s West Khasi Hills District, where people in huge numbers can be seen rushing to attend a fishing competition in Pamphyrnai, Ksehkohlong.

Despite ambulance sirens blaring and emergency lights flashing, it was not given a way to reach the hospital, causing a significant delay in medical attention for the pregnant woman.

After the video of this incident went viral, it raised concerns about the lack of awareness and respect for emergency vehicles among the general public, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and education on emergency response protocols.

The ambulance was forced to pause its life-saving mission because anglers were racing to win a new Mahindra Thar, prioritising a prize over someone’s life.

This incident also raises a question about the values and priorities of society, as it is disheartening to see individuals prioritise material gain over human life.
