Amidst NEET row, Assam Government assures to provide free coaching for NEET, JEE

Dibrugarh, June 15: Amid raging controversy over NEET results and a growing concerns over accessibility of high profile and expensive coaching classes for national level entrance exams like NEET, JEE for talented students who can not afford the expenses of coaching centres, Assam government has come up with an interesting model where they will provide free coaching to students for NEET and JEE who will score good marks in entrance exam for the coaching.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma felicitated eight meritorious students of Allen coaching institute who secured positions in IIT and NEET entrance.

Among them, three students secured positions in entrance in AIIMS, four in IIT, and one achieved 148th rank at the All India level.

Speaking to media persons, CM Sarma said, “To empower our student’s so that they get seats in renowned medical colleges and engineering colleges across the India. Our state youth commission has taken a step to establish various coaching centres for the middle class and poor students at a very nominal fee but with the help of most outstanding coaching institute of the country. Today, we have seen important results from Dibrugarh centre and I am sure in days to come across the state this network will work and Assamese students will seek admission in eminent institutes,”.

“We know that in last five years their was a trend in Assam that NIT and JEE Ajmal foundation has set up many coaching camps but they were not given opportunity to all community students but our institute will give top most priority to all students from different cast, creed and community,” Sarma asserted.

“The Allen coaching institute was set up last year under Bikoxito Jibon Parikalpana Scheme of Assam Youth Commission. We have started two batches. We are happy to announce that our coaching institute have a tremendous success in the very first year. 71 students appeared for JEE and out of that 4 has got into the IIT’s and rest of the students got in NIIT’s. 220 students have appeared for NEET and out of that 155 students have qualified and three students qualified for AIIMS. Today, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came to our institute to felicitated the meritorious students,” said Bhaskar Gogoi, member of Assam Youth Commission.

“We are going to set up centres in Tezpur, Silchar, Nalbari and Jorhat for the benefit of the students. Our main aim is to provide affordable coaching to the students of entire Assam,” he said.

Gaurav Kumar Nandi, who has scored 700 out of 720 in NIT-UG 2024, said, “I want to thank chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarama for open the Allen institute in Dibrugarh. Earlier, the students had to go to Kota, Rajasthan for coaching but now the students can ripe the benefits of coaching in Dibrugarh. I want to thank my teacher and staffs of the Allen institute for supporting us,”.

“I thank the Assam Youth Commission who brought such an opportunity in Dibrugarh. Now, the students can easily take coaching without going outside. It will surely helps us to build our future,” stated a student.
