Tura, 25 Feb: Don Bosco College (DBC)in Tura was transformed into a culinary haven as the students of the Bakery and Confectionary department of the Vocational Training Centre,DBC hosted their highly anticipated annual food festival on Tuesday.

Held within the college premises, the event showcased the culinary talents of 121 students, among which were 2 students from Bhutan, who brought with them authentic Bhutanese flavours giving the local fest an international twist.

Divided into 12 dynamic batches, the students prepared and showcased a wide array of delectable dishes, that attracted a large crowd of fellow students and faculty members. The fest also drew in crowd from the neighboring Don Bosco College of Teachers Education.

The food fest was not merely a display of culinary skills but also a platform for budding entrepreneurs to test their market acumen, as the students sold their creations to the enthusiastic attendees.

Speaking to Hub News, Dr. Aksana Ch. Marak, Asst. Professor for environmental Sciences, DBC said โ€ the objective of this fest is to give a platform to the students from the Bakery and confectionaries show their culinary skills as well as entrepreneur skills. This also gives an opportunity for them to bond with the seniors juniorsโ€.

The food fest offered a rich tapestry of flavours including local Garo cuisines like Kappa, We.tepa and Nakam Bitchi, alongside baked goods items such as cupcakes and pastries. The quality and presentation of the food items were a testament to the dedication and creativity of the students.

The success of the Food Festival not only underscores the talent and hardwork of the students, but also emphasises the collegeโ€™s commitment into providing practical and hands-on experience to itโ€™s students.
