Dibrugarh, March 25: Varinder Singh Johal, alias Fauji, an aide of Amritpal Singh, is set to be taken back to Punjab from Dibrugarh Central Jail on Wednesday.
Varinder Singh, a former serviceman, was also the bodyguard of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh.
He was shifted to Dibrugarh Central Jail from Punjab on March 27, 2023, under the National Security Act (NSA).
According to sources, the formalities for his deportation are almost complete, and Fauji is set to be taken back.
He will be transported on a commercial flight rather than a special aircraft.
A six-member Punjab Police team arrived in Dibrugarh on March 24, 2025, to complete the legal formalities for Varinderโs deportation.
On March 20, 2025, all seven aides of Amritpal Singh were taken back to Punjab from Dibrugarh Airport after being handed over to the Punjab Police.
The entire transfer process for Amritpal Singhโs seven aides was completed on March 19.
The seven transferred individuals include Daljit Singh Kalsi, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh (alias Pradhan Mantri Bajeke), Basant Singh, and Gurinderpal Singh.
Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Bhagwant Singh (Pradhan Mantri Bajeke), and Basant Singh were transported on IndiGo flight 6E 2561, which departed from Dibrugarh at 10:10 AM.
