Williamnagar, Aug 29: A.chik organization for Social Welfare (AOSW) has urged the SDSEO of East Garo Hills, Williamnagar, to order the headmaster of Rongrong Union Deficit UP School to re-advertise for the post of Assistant Teacher.

“It was advertised on 24th February by the headmaster of the said school where 13 candidates had applied and 9 candidates had appeared for the interview where a person without MTET was illegally recruited and MTET certificate holders were rejected. In the advertisement it was written that the last date of application submission was on 11th March 2022 and the tentative interview was on 16th March 2022 and first preference had been made for the local candidate. In accordance to the preference made for the local candidate, there was local MTET certificate holder who was rejected and a person without MTET from neighboring village who got her D.I.E.D result on 2nd May 2022 long after the last date of submission of application given in the advertisement and the issuance of the mark sheet started from 31st May 2022 long after the interview was conducted,” Premiar N Sangma, the general secretary of AOSW, claimed.

He said the education department has been neglecting the education system and there have been long pending vacancies in Schools.

“Keeping the schools blank without teachers, bogus and rigging recruitment of the teachers without the quality of the teacher and system of dynasty succession are the indicators of decline for the education of our state or country,” he stated.

Also ruing at the state of affairs, the AOSW leader said there have been too many failures on the part of the government in filling up vacancies in Schools and government departments. And when recruitment does take place, the jobs are concentrated to political leaders and family members, children or relatives of officials, he said.

Premiar further alleged that though there are many graduates and qualified students, because they are from poor families, they are unable to ‘buy’ these jobs. “These are the kinds of malpractices, undemocratic and unfair (practices),” he concluded.
