Aizawl, June 12: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles (AR), under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered a sizeable cache of arms and ammunitions and apprehended five ALP cadres in a raid in Kakichhua area of Mizoram on Saturday.
The raid recovered one 9mm Pistol with one magazine, one 9mm revolver, 4 grenades, and 55 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police based on specific information.
“The operation was based on confirmed intelligence inputs about the war like stores,” a statement from the Assam Rifles PRO office said.
“Swift and bold action of Security Forces resulted in the apprehension of five ALP cadres who were later handed over to the lawngtlai Police Station,” the press noted added.
