Shillong April 21: The Meghalaya Arm Wrestling Association (MAWA) will organise the Arm Wrestling State Championship from May 7 at the Khasi Jaintia Assembly Hall, Shillong.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, the advisor of MAWA, Michael N. Massar, informed that from the Arm Wrestling State Championship they will select the participants to represent the state at the National level that will take place in Hyderabad.
He also mentioned that the state championship will be open to all and be based on weight category.
Meanwhile, the Bouncer Association Meghalaya (BAM) conferred the Kennedy Memorial Award to Johnny Nongrum (Kick boxing MMA), Mordekai Simon Kharpuri (Brazilian Jujitsu), Badalin Kharbyrngar (Shillong Arm fight and North East Level), Donbor Rumnong (10th mister universe Mr. physique and Bala Makri (Miss Ri bhoi).
Nickey M. Nongsiang, the vice president of the association, said the Kennedy Memorial Award was given in memory of Late Kennedy Warlarpih, the former vice president of the association.
Posthumous awards were given to Kennedy’s wife Jeblinda kharmalki, his mother Fastinia warlarpih and his sister Risuk warlarpih.
