Itanagar, Oct 21: A military chopper on Friday crashed near Migging village in West Siang district, which is located 25 kms away from the Tuting headquarters in the Upper Siang district. There were five people on board. 2 bodies have been recovered from the crash site and search for 3 others is on.
The site of the accident is not connected by road and a rescue team was sent, according to the Defence PRO, Guwahati.
The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), carrying Army personnel, was on regular sorties, he said. The incident took place at 10.43 am, and search operation is underway, he added.
Upper Siang SP Jummar Basar said the crash site is a mountainous region, and it would take time for the search and rescue team to reach the spot. This is the second incident of an Army helicopter accident in the state this month.
