Guwahati, May 21: Spear Corps of the Indian Army, observed World Anti-Terrorism Day on 21 May 2024 with a resolve and commitment to foster peace and unity.
A series of activities were held to raise awareness and promote peace across Assam. Importance of collective action against terrorism was also emphasized during the program.
Lectures were conducted at the Government Higher Secondary School, Dirak, Town Higher Secondary School, Margherita, Tinsukia district and Tipong, Upper Assam on the pivotal role of education in combating terrorism, staying informed about the environment. A large number of students and teachers attended the events.
In addition, a special exhibition was held which showcased the rich history of the Indian Army in Counter Terrorist operations and its role to sustain peace in the region. Various schemes to join the Armed Forces and other CAPF were also an important feature of the exhibition.
The events conducted by Army were focused on honouring the bravehearts from the state who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism. Community outreach programs highlighting the importance of vigilance and collective responsibility of every citizen in combating terrorism were also carried out.
World Anti-Terrorism Day stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to protecting the country and promoting peace and harmony.
