Imphal, June 19: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday while replying to the questions of reporters after Army jawan sustained a gunshot wound after armed miscreants resorted to unprovoked firing from Kanto Sabal towards Chingmang village in Manipur during the intervening night of Sunday-Monday morning.
Singh further said he will hold a review meeting where he will discuss on how the incident happened and how it can be prevented in the future.
He further said that “these types of things have to be stopped immediately…”

N.Biren Singh also talked about his discussion with Mizoram CM Zoramthanga, He said, “A very positive (discussion). Zoramthanga is well-experienced and the senior-most minister in the entire northeast. I informed him that some of the Manipuri people, Maitei people residing there are a little apprehensive due to the ongoing crisis in Manipur. So, he called me up in the morning and assured me that nothing will happen…”

Manipur CM also said that ge viisted some relief camps and people are suffering. He also said that the State Govt is going to construct pre-fabricated houses to accommodate them temporarily.
He informed that around 3000-4000 houses will be constructed.

Indian Army Statement (Sub-Head)
Spear Corps, Indian Army on Monday said on Monday, that “Armed miscreants resorted to unprovoked firing from Kanto Sabal towards Chingmang village during night of 18/19 June. Army Columns resorted to controlled retaliatory fire keeping in view presence of villagers in the area. One Army Soldier sustained Gun Shot Wound, evacuated to Military Hospital Leimakhong and is stable. Additional columns inducted in the area & joint operations are in progress”.

This comes a day after Indian Army conducted a flag march in a violence-affected area in Imphal Valley. Authorities also decided to relax the curfew on Sunday from 5 am to 5 pm.
So far, more than hunder people have lost their lives in the Manipur clash which started on May 3.
