Army Subedar’s body recovered 5 days after landslide in Arunachal Pradesh’s border area

Arunachal Pradesh, April 02: On Saturday, the body of an Army Subedar was recovered five days after a landslide in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. According to a Defence spokesperson, while on an operational task in the forward area of the Tawang sector on March 27, a team of Army troopers was hit by a sudden massive landslide with debris of 6-7 feet, including fallen trees, rocks, and mud.

Everyone was able to escape without any critical injuries except Subedar A.S. Dhagale, who was trapped in the debris. A search operation was launched immediately to locate him.

“After a massive search for four days by multiple teams with specialist equipment, Dhagale’s mortal remains were retrieved from the landslide site and moved to District Hospital, Tawang,” the spokesperson said.

Dhagale, who hailed from Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra, is survived by his wife and two daughters.
