Guwahati, May 17: Dinesh Sharma, a cashier working at a petrol pump in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district, has been freed after enduring a 21-day ordeal in the hands of suspected ULFA(I) militants. The release took place on Tuesday.
According to reports, Dinesh Sharma, an employee at the Chongkham fuel outlet, was released in the Medo area, which falls under the Wakro circle in Lohit district. The incident occurred on April 26, when three armed ULFA (I) members abducted Sharma.
The outlet is owned by Jenia Namchoom, a Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM).
During the abduction, the militants resorted to gunfire, resulting in severe injuries to Mithai Marandi (28), the driver associated with the fuel outlet’s owner. Sadly, Marandi succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
