Itanagar, March 15: Quick thinking and swift action by the Arunachal Pradesh police helped reunite three teenage girls from Assam with their families after they mistakenly ended up in Arunachal Pradesh.
The girls, aged 14 to 15, had boarded a train from Duliajan intending to reach Tinsukia but accidentally arrived at Naharlagun railway station near Itanagar on Wednesday. Stranded and unsure of their next steps, their situation could have taken a dangerous turn—until local police intervened.
Alerted by concerned passengers at the station, the police immediately stepped in, ensuring the girls were safe. They were provided medical care and taken to Oju Shelter Home in Naharlagun for temporary protection. Meanwhile, the authorities quickly coordinated with their counterparts in Assam, who traced the girls’ families in Duliajan.
By Friday, the relieved parents arrived at Papu Hills police station, where they were reunited with their daughters. Overwhelmed with gratitude, they praised the Arunachal Pradesh police for their prompt response and coordination with Duliajan police.
