Arunachal Pradesh: Body found in Nampong near India-Myanmar border

Itanagar, May 6: Tension gripped the border town of Nampong in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district after a dead body was discovered on Tuesday in a sensitive area near the India-Myanmar border.

The deceased has been identified as Wanzam Kochang, a resident of Khamkhai village under Nampong circle. Kochang had been working as a cook at a nearby Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp for several years.

According to initial reports, the body was found in a restricted zone between the Nampong police station and the CRPF camp.

“We have sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death. Only after a proper investigation will we be able to determine what exactly happened. It may be a case of murder,” a police official said.

In response to the incident, security has been heightened in and around Nampong. Joint patrolling by security forces has been initiated across sensitive locations.

Nampong, the last Indian town before the Pangsau Pass, lies along the Indo-Myanmar border and is known for its strategic importance.
