Arunachal Pradesh: DTCC flying squad seizes Tobacco Products From Shops near Schools

Itanagar, May 3: The Flying Squad of District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Itanagar Capital Region, raided the shops near the schools of Naharlagun, particularly at Kankar Nallah and G-Sector area, under the provision of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).

During the raid, which was conducted on Wednesday, the squad consisting of CO Naharlagun Nani Mamung, District Consultant (DTCC), and police personnel seized a huge quantity of cigarettes and other tobacco products along with alcohol sold illegally from different shops situated within the 100-metre radius of educational institutions.

All the shop owners found violating COTPA Section 6 (a)&(b) were challenged, amounting to Rs 200 each, and warned not to further sell any tobacco products near the educational institutions.

The team also asked all to cooperate and help the youths live a tobacco-free life and move towards a tobacco-free society and environment.

At the end of the checking drive, all the seized cigarettes and other tobacco products and alcohol were burnt and disposed of near the Mini Secretariat at Naharlagun.
