Arunachal Pradesh: MHA sanctions 1022 km of roads under VVP

Guwahati, Jan 23: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sanctioned approximately 1022 kms of roads for Arunachal Pradesh under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP).

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, currently on a two-day tour of Upper Siang district, made an appeal to members of five resident communities – Memba, Khamba, Adi, Mishmi, and Tangam to coexist peacefully and become equal stakeholders in the development of border areas.

Khandu stated the long-standing peaceful coexistence of communities in the northernmost part of the district, which shares an international border with Tibet-China and asked to maintain this relationship of brotherhood without any disturbances.

The Chief Minister assured that the new planning model would accelerate holistic development in all villages of the state highlighting that government resources would be utilised without wastage.

The Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched in 2023. It aims for the comprehensive development of selected villages in 46 blocks across 19 districts abutting the northern border in Arunachal Pradesh, along with Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh.
