Guwahati, Feb 18: For the second consecutive day, normal life was affected in Itanagar after the bandh called by the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC). The internet services continued to be shut down.
As many as 10 protesters were injured on Friday after clash broke out between police and protesters, who were protesting against the oath taking ceremony of chairman and members of APPSC. Protesting the oath taking ceremony of the designated chairman and members of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), PAJSC had called a bandh on Friday, which later turned violent between protesters and police.
The PAJSC alleged that the state government has a hidden agenda in appointing Shantanu Dayal, a retired Lieutenant General, as APPSC chairman.
Dayal is already 61 years old and is left with only one year as chairman. The Commission mandates 62 as the retirement age.
Meanwhile, the district administration clamped down 144 CrPC to control the untoward incident.
On the other hand, Arunachal Pradesh chief Minister Pema Khandu held a discussion with the protesting organisation.
