Itanagar, July 20: The Arunachal Pradesh government has taken a significant step to ensure integrity in public exams by eliminating irregularities and unfair practices.
On the first day of the budget session on Friday, the government tabled the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination (Measures to Prevent Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024.
The bill is particularly stringent, with provisions for harsh penalties, including imprisonment and heavy fines, to deter malpractice. Candidates caught using unfair means could face penalties of up to Rs 1 crore, along with potential imprisonment. Furthermore, offenders could be barred from appearing in future recruitment exams, and their properties may be attached and confiscated.
A notable feature of the bill is the establishment of special courts dedicated to the speedy trial of such offences, ensuring swift justice.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded the bill as a crucial measure to prevent exam paper leaks and other forms of cheating. He emphasized that once enacted, this bill would guarantee a transparent and fair recruitment process for all government positions in Arunachal Pradesh, effectively rooting out malpractices.
Experts say the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its recruitment processes and upholding the principle of meritocracy.
