Tura, April 28: West Garo Hills District authorities in  response to the escalating temperatures impacting the entire West Garo Hills district have revised the school timings to safeguard the well-being of students, teachers, and staff. The revised timings are to be implemented with immediate effect until May 1.
Outdoor activities and morning assemblies are suspended until May 1, 2024.
Schools are prohibited from conducting classes between 11 AM to 3 PM. Upper Primary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary Schools may hold classes between 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with flexibility granted to school management to close if necessary, with proper notification.
Nursery and Lower Primary Schools will be closed from 10:30 AM on April 29 until May 1, 2024. The deworming exercise for Lower Primary Schools will be scheduled for either April 29 or May 2, 2024, at the discretion of school authorities.
Students are advised to use caps or umbrellas for protection from the sun, and schools must ensure access to water and hydration solutions. Emergency medical care will be provided for cases of severe dehydration.
Evening and night schools will remain operational as usual.
The order does not apply to coaching classes, extra-curricular activities, or higher educational institutes, allowing management flexibility with prior notification to the Education Department.
The measures aim to mitigate the adverse effects of the rising temperatures on educational activities while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all in the West Garo Hills district.
