Assam: 3 Bangladeshi nationals detained for cattle smuggling in Cachar

Guwahati, Nov 6: In a major crackdown against cattle smuggling, three suspected Bangladeshi nationals were detained at Katigorah in Assam’s Cachar district on Sunday night.

According to sources, the three suspects were picked up by a team of village defence party from tye Kinnakhal market near the Indo-Bangla border.

The three persons were accused of entering Assam with the intention of cattle smuggling.

“The VDP found out that they were Bangladeshi nationals and had entered Indian territory without valid documentation. We have detained the persons and started our investigation,” said a police source.

It is being investigated as to how the three entered India and if anyone from Assam had helped them sneak in.

“Due to porous Indo-Bangla border the cattle smuggler takes advantage and enter in Indian terrority to smuggled cattles,” said a source.
