Assam: 4 killed after two motorcycles collided head-on in Dhubri

Guwahati, Sep 1: In a tragic incident, four people were killed in a motorcycle accident in Assam’s Dhubri district on Thursday night.

According to reports, the incident occurred at Hazaripara when two motorcycles collided, one of which carried three people.

The three people on the motorcycle were killed instantly, while the fourth person, who was riding the other motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and later died in the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Noorbakta Khan, Zahinur Khan, Abu Bakar Siddique, and Mohammad Hussain.

They were all residents of Bilasipara.

“They were riding the motorcycle very roughly, and due to overspeeding, the accident took place. Three of them were killed on the spot due to a heavy head-on collision; the fourth sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, but during treatment he died,” said a police official.

He said, “Due to over-speeding the accident took place. The bike was overspending and could not control its speed; as a result, it collided head-on with the vehicle.”

“Most of the road accidents took place due to overspending and the consumption of alcohol. The youths who lost their lives due to over-speeding. The youths who ride motorcycles should understand and control their speed while riding. Recently, many young people got killed in road accidents in Assam,” he said.
