Guwahati, Sept 6: In a tragic incident, at least seven persons died on the spot after the vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a mini Punjab body truck on Tuesday in Kakopathar’s eastern Assam Tinsukia district.
According to reports, the passengers were returning from Doomdooma’s weekly market when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided with the mini-good truck.
Five of the deceased have been identified as Paben Moran, Billi Baruah, Rini Gogoi, Mihidhar Neog, and Jonali Moran.
The identities of the two other deceased persons are yet to be ascertained.
“Due to overspeeding of the vehicle, the accident took place. The impact of the accident was so huge that none of the passengers survived and died on the spot, while 11 others received severe injuries. The registration numbers of two vehicles that were part of the horrific accident are AS23-CC 8930 and AR 20A1093,” said a police official.
On September 1, four people were killed while riding motorcycles after the motorcycle collided with another motorcycle.
The incident occurred in Dhubri district.
The deceased have been identified as Noorbakta Khan, Zahinur Khan, Abu Bakar Siddique, and Mohammad Hussain.
