Guwahati, July 17: Putting to rest all speculations, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has decided to support UPA candidate Yashwant Sinha for the Presidential polls.
Talking to reporters, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal on Sunday said they have decided to support UPA candidate Yashwant Sinha.
“We have decided to support anti-BJP candidate because we have ideological differences with BJP. We will support Yashwant Sinha for presidential polls,” he said.
AIUDF has 16 Legislative Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat.
AIUDF was a key ally of the Congress-led Mahajot in the 2021 Assam Assembly polls but, after polls, relations between the Assam unit of Congress and AIUDF turned sour. Both the parties have blamed each other of cross voting in favour of BJP in the recently held Rajya Sabha polls.
