Dibrugarh, Sept 14: Online stock trading scam accused Amlan Borah was brought to Dibrugarh Police Station at around 11:05 pm on Friday.
Amlan Borah, the brother of accused Tarkik Borah, was arrested by Police from Muzaffarpur city of Bihar on September 11, 2024 in connection with Dibrugarh PS case no. 352/2024.
Police interrogated Amlan Borah in connection with the online trading scam.
On Friday, Dibrugarh police seized a vehicle without a number plate, which was suspected to be used by the two of the accused Sumi Borah and her husband Tarkik Borah while fleeing from Golaghat.
The vehicle has symbolic stickers used by an advocate, as well as stickers of National Geographic and one titled “Save Animal.”
According to police sources, inside the vehicle, empty water bottles and packets of chips were found. This white-colored vehicle was brought to Dibrugarh Sadar police station on Friday in connection with the recent online trading case.
Dibrugarh police produced both Sumi Borah and Tarkik Borah before the court on Thursday in connection with the Dibrugarh Police Station case no. 352/2024.
Dibrugarh police had requested seven days of police custody but the court granted 5 days of police custody for both.
On the other hand, Assam cabinet decided on Friday to transfer 32 cases related to online trading scams, believed to be worth over Rs 6,000 crore, to the CBI for further investigation.
This decision comes after discussions between chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
