Assam: Bajrang Dal members tear down ‘Pathaan’ posters in Guwahati

Guwahati, Jan 21: The activists of the Bajrang Dal on Friday stormed into Narengi’s LG Towers and forcibly pulled down posters promoting the upcoming movie “Pathaan”.

Later, the posters were set on fire, and dome furniture broken. The activists also chanted “Jai Shri Ram” and warned the cinema hall owners against screening the film.

The members shouted slogans against the movie and tore town posters of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, who are the main lead characters in the film.

“We won’t allow the cinema to be released in our country because it is against our culture and religion. If the cinema will be released in cinema hall’s across Assam, then we will protest against the film,” a Bajrang Dal member said.

The controversy started after Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottom Mishra made his objections to one of the songs in the movie – ‘Beshram Rang’.
