Assam BJP MLA urges PM Modi to demolish Taj Mahal and build temple

Must read

Guwahati, April 05: Rupjyoti Kurmi, a BJP legislator from Assam’s Mariani constituency, has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demolish the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar, and build the world’s most beautiful temple in their place. Kurmi made the statement on Tuesday, following the ongoing debate related to the removal of Mughal history.

“I urge Prime minister Narendra Modi to demolish the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar and build the world’s most beautiful temple,” said Rupjyoti Kurmi.

According to Kurmi, the temple should be designed in a way that its architecture cannot be matched by any other institution or establishment. He argued that the Mughals were invaders who arrived in India in the 1500s, and students should not be taught about them.

Kurmi applauded the recent move by the “centre” to remove Mughal history from textbooks, stating that it should have been done much earlier. He also pledged to donate a year’s salary for the construction of the temple, which he hopes will be recognized not only by UNICEF but also by the Guinness World Record.

Meanwhile, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has recently revised its textbooks and syllabus, which will impact schools across the country. As a result, the 12th class History book, ‘Themes of Indian History-Part 2’, will no longer include chapters related to the Mughal Empire.
