Dibrugarh, Sep 4: The body of a 17-year-old girl was recovered from the resident of one Moni Rajwar at Dhekeri Gaon in Banipur area of eastern Assam Dibrugarh on Sunday night.
The minor girl was found hanging in her room with a ceiling fan, but when police reached the spot, her body was lying on the bed.
It has been suspected that the minor girl was raped and murdered.
Police arrested four people in connection with the murder of the girl.
Talking to media persons, Dibrugarh Additional SP (HQ) Papori Chetia said, “We have started our investigation and arrested four people in connection with the case. Among the four, one is minor. We have sent four of them for medical”.
She added, “When our police team reached the spot, they found the body lying on the bed. She was found hanging from a ceiling fan. We have collected all the samples from the spot and started the investigation. Right now we cannot say anything because the investigation is at the preliminary stage.”
A case no. 472/2023 u/s 302/376 D IPC was registered at the Dibrugarh police station.
