Guwahati, Jan 8: A carcass of a Royal Bengal tiger was found at Kukurakata Hill under the Buhapahar forest area near Kaliabar in Assam’s Nagaon district on Tuesday.
According to reports, locals found the carcass and alerted the Panijoori forest camp of Kaziranga National Park.
“We have found a carcass of a Royal Bengal tiger, which appears to have died 10-12 days ago. Upon examination, it seems the tiger may have died due to infighting. As per NTCA rules, we have formed a committee to conduct the post-mortem, which has been completed,” an official stated.
He added, “We cannot currently determine the exact age of the dead tiger, but we have collected essential samples to ascertain it.”
Meanwhile, the forest department has launched an investigation into the incident. Following the post-mortem, the tiger’s remains were buried.
