Guwahati, Feb 1: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has hailed the Union Budget 2025, calling it a blueprint for inclusive growth and economic transformation. Sarma highlighted seven key provisions, including the announcement of a 12 lakh metric tonne Urea plant at Namrup with a ₹10,000 crore investment, which he described as a “game changer” for Assam’s economy.
He praised the ₹1.5 lakh crore interest-free loan facility for infrastructure development and the enhanced devolution of ₹44,494 crore for Assam. Sarma welcomed the revision of MSME classifications, incentives for first-time women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs, and the Gramin Credit Score framework benefiting Assam’s vast SHG network of 30 lakh women.
The CM highlighted the increase in the income tax exemption limit to ₹12 lakh and the plan to add 75,000 MBBS seats nationwide, aligning with Assam’s goal of 24 medical colleges by 2030. He also underscored the enhanced disaster relief fund allocation and increased energy investment through NEEPCO.
Calling the ₹50 lakh crore Union Budget a “Viksit Bharat roadmap,” Sarma expressed optimism that it would fuel Assam’s growth trajectory and fulfill the aspirations of its people.
