Guwahati, March 19: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday expressed his displeasure over excessive police security during his visit to Silchar, questioning the need for such a large deployment.
“Why do I need so many police officers? Am I a thief or a dacoit?” Sarma was heard saying in a viral video.
The Chief Minister was visiting Desh Bhakta Tarun Ram Phookon HS School, where a large number of people had gathered to take selfies with him. However, upon noticing the heavy police presence, he appeared visibly irritated and openly criticized the security arrangement.

Sarma was in Silchar to attend the centenary celebration of Ramkrishna Mission Sevashram and to inaugurate the newly built Universal Temple of Sri Sri Ramkrishna Paramhamsadeva.
