Guwahati, Jan 2: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday informed that Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will very soon be transformed into an iconic hospital in the region, and for that, the state government would spend Rs 40,000 crore.
Talking to reporters, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Not only GMCH, but many more iconic projects will come up in Assam. We will spend Rs 40,000 crore on an iconic building in GMCH, which will be the first of its kind. Nehru Stadium will be developed into an iconic stadium for the region.”
“Kanaklata University will come to Gohpur as a modern university with all facilities, and for that, we would spend Rs 1,000 crore. The state zoo will be transformed into an iconic zoo with modern facilities. A nature and history museum and animal rescue centre will be opened at Kaziranga,” CM Sarma informed.
Sarma also informed me that under the Assam Mala project, a flyover will come up from Dighalipukhuri to Bamunimaidan.
