Guwahati, Jan 12: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday the commencement of the construction of 500 new schools in the state, scheduled to start in February this year.
Addressing reporters, CM Sarma expressed readiness to implement government schemes, ensuring their completion by February 15. He emphasized that the foundation for the new schools would be laid during the month of February.
The Chief Minister emphasised crucial projects such as ration cards and Udyamitra, ensuring their timely completion. Sarma stated, ‘We have allocated approximately 6-7 crores for each school, making it a two-week growth period from February 15 to 28.’
The government launched a new scheme, ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Asoni’ for 3.9 million rural women associated with self-help groups (SHGs), aimed at helping 3.9 million women associated with 7 lakh self-help groups (SHGs) across the state.
Initially, the state government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 3,900 crore for the implementation of the scheme.
