Dibrugarh, May 6: Opposing the government’s reportedly ‘arbitrary decision’ to shift the Gauhati High Court to North Guwahati, the Dibrugarh Bar Association staged a protest in front of the Dibrugarh Court premises on Monday.
Over a hundred advocates of the Dibrugarh Bar Association participated in the two-hour-long protest.
The protest in Dibrugarh was held in response to a call by the Gauhati High Court Bar Association against the government’s decision to relocate the High Court without any discussion with the legal fraternity.

The protesting members of the Dibrugarh Bar Association alleged that the decision was taken without consulting the lawyers of the Gauhati High Court and demanded immediate withdrawal of the arbitrary move.
“We have staged a protest against the government decision to shift the Gauhati High Court to North Guwahati. Without discussion with advocates, how can such decision be taken. Gauhati Bar Association also staged similar protest in Guwahati,” said a member of Dibrugarh Bar Association.
