Boko, July 2: Incidents of bike lifting are on the rise in villages which are located close to Boko police station in South Kamrup. In two latest incidents, bike lifters took away four motorbikes from Jarapara and Dakuapara villages within a 1 km radius of the police station.
As per reports, two vehicles were stolen from Jarapara village on Monday night. The stolen two-wheelers include a Royal Enfield Classic 350 (AS 01EK 4290) and a Honda Dio (AS 01DT 7141).
In a separate incident reported from Dakuapara village, bike lifters stole two more two-wheelers, a Bajaj Pulsar 220 (AS 18 B 4776) and a Honda Aviator (AS 25G 6951).
The bike owners suspect both incidents occurred between 2 am to 4 am. They have filed separate FIRs with the Boko police station.
OC Phanindra Chandra Nath, Boko police station, informed that an investigation into the matter has been initiated. “We have checked the CCTV footage and are trying to identify those who were involved in this incident,” OC Nath added.
Locals have urged the police to enhance night patrols to prevent further thefts.
