Guwahati, June 15: Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta on Tuesday said that the government extended the curfew in the state till June 22 to prevent further spread of the Covid-19.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Mahanta said the curfew has been relaxed in Guwahati for one hour. All shops, commercial establishment, restaurants, dhabas, government and private offices will shut down by 1 pm on all days.
Earlier, all shops and commercial establishments were being shut down at 12 pm on all days.
Mahanta said, “Except in eight districts, there will be a total ban on movement of individuals from 2 pm to 5 am daily in the state.”
Eight districts – Chirang, Udalguri, West Karbi Anglong, Bongaigaon, Majuli, Dima Hasao, South Salmara, and Charaideo have given more relaxation due to the lower number of daily Covid cases and active caseload.
The curfew will come into force in these eight districts from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The inter-district travel in the state will remain suspended till June 22.
However, there will be more strictness if situation in five district don’t subside till June 21. The districts are Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, Sonitpur and Nagaon. Total lockdown may be imposed in these 5 districts if situation don’t subside.
