Guwahati, June 7: The Board of Secondary Education, Assam commonly known as SEBA on Tuesday declared the HSLC or Class 10 results. This year’s overall pass percentage is 56.49% (boys 58.80% and girls 54.49%). A total of 405,582 students (1,88,570 boys and 2,17,012 girls) had appeared for the exams.
This is a sharp drop from last year’s pass percentage of 93.10%. This was the first ever offline state board exams results after the Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2021, exams were not held due to Covid-19 and results were declared through an evaluation formula based on results of previous years and internal assessment.
This year, among the districts, Chirang has the lowest pass percentage at 34.27% and Dhemaji highest at 85.46%.
A total of 55 students secured the Top 10 ranks.
Raktotpal Saikia of St. Mary’s High School, North Lakhimpur topped the Top 10 rank holders followed by Bhuyashi Medhi of Little Flowers School, Nalbari. The third position was secured by three students—Mridupawan Kalita of Don Bosco High School, Kheroni, Labeeb Muzib of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Boiragimath and Partha Pratim Das of Lohit Dikrong Higher Secondary School, Bihpuria.
No rank holders were declared last year as exams were not conducted due to Covid-19. According to SEBA, this will be last year when names of rank holders will be officially declared.
On Tuesday, SEBA also declared results of Assam High Madrasa Examination, 2022. A total of 10,454 students (3870 boys and 6584 girls) had appeared for the exams. The overall pass percentage was 54.73% (57.67% boys and 52.99%).
The first rank was secured by Mufassir Al Hasan of Al Kauser Model Academy of Sonitpur district. Two students got the second rank – Sadiqa Ahmed of Dhakua High Madrasa in Barpeta district and Mostaque Ahmed of Piradhara High Madrasa in Bongaigaon. Two students got third rank—Shahnaaz Parvin of Daulatpur Madrasa Higher Secondary School in Lakhimpur and Irshadullah of Borghuli High Madrasa in Nagaon.
