Guwahati, Jan 21: The Lakhimpur district Congress Committee submitted a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the purported defacement and tearing of posters linked to the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Lakhimpur, Assam on Saturday.
Gagan Chandra Bora, the president of the Lakhimpur district Congress Committee, filed the FIR, attributing the incident to the BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM). The Congress asserts that the BJYM orchestrated the vandalism as a deliberate attempt to disrupt the yatra.
The incident occured in Assam’s Lakhimpur district, where Indian Youth Congress (IYC) vehicles were purportedly vandalized by BJYM workers on Friday night, just before the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ was set to enter the district, as per a statement from a Congress leader.
Congress officials further charged that during the incident, BJYM workers had damaged banners and cutouts with Rahul Gandhi’s picture and defaced a picture of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
