Assam: Man lynched on suspicion of cattle theft in Hajai, six arrested

Guwahati, Aug 13: In yet another horrific incident, a man was beaten to death by a mob in Assam’s Hajai district over suspicion of cattle theft.

The man has been identified as Hizbur Rahman.

According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday night at Bamun Gaon village in Lanka, Hajai.

Hizbur Rahman was trashed by the mob after he was caught stealing cattle from a cattle shed in the area.

Following the incident, police rushed to the spot and rushed Rahman to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Police launched an investigation into this matter and arrested six people in connection to this case.

The six people who have been arrested by the police have been identified as Jayanta  Chakraborty, Uttam Chakraborty, Nikhil Das, Sanjay Das, Tulendra Das and Sanju Mazumdar.

Meanwhile, further investigation into this case is underway.
