Guwahati, March 12: A joint team of Nagaon police and Kerala police arrested a married man in Kerala, who had changed his religious identity and eloped with a girl from Nagaon.

The man identified as Ramijul Islam, who is a father of three children, was hiding in Kerala for three months.

According to police, Ramijul Islam had changed his name to Munna Gogoi on social media platforms such as Instragram and eloped with a local girl in Nagaon.

Following a complaint by the girl’s mother, the Nagaon police went to Kerala and apprehended Ramijul Islam. They also safely rescued the girl and brought her back to Assam.

“A team of Nagaon police went to Kerala and arrested the person and brought back the girl along with the person to Assam,” a police official said.

According to reports, Ramijul changed his name to Munna Gogoi and started an affair with a local girl from Nagaon and took her to Kerela two months ago, where they were hiding.
