Guwahati, Jan 17: Assam’s Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Public Enterprise, Bimal Borah, arrived in London as part of the Advantage Assam 2.0 global outreach initiative, aiming to attract international investments and strengthen the state’s global trade ties.

After a successful roadshow in Dubai, Borah led a delegation to the UK, where he met British Minister for Indo-Pacific Catherine West on Thursday. The discussions focused on enhancing trade and cultural relations between Assam and the UK, with Borah emphasizing the Indian government’s vision of a Viksit Asom—a thriving economic hub fueled by innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships.

“Assam is emerging as a dynamic investment destination, thanks to the proactive policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. We are committed to creating an investor-friendly ecosystem that fosters business growth and global collaboration,” Borah said.

At an Investors Meet held at Hotel St. James Court, Buckingham Gate, on Friday, Borah invited British investors to participate in the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, scheduled for February 5 and 26 in Guwahati. He highlighted Assam’s unique position as the gateway to Southeast Asia, its robust infrastructure, and thriving industries like manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, and renewable energy.

“With its rich natural resources, skilled workforce, and progressive policies, Assam is poised to become a premier investment hub,” Borah added, emphasizing the state’s potential to attract global enterprises.

Before the Investors Meet, Borah paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Parliament Square Garden, symbolizing Assam’s enduring historical and cultural ties with the UK.

Advantage Assam 2.0 seeks to position the state as a global investment hotspot, leveraging its strategic location, proactive governance, and growth-driven initiatives to foster international collaboration and economic development.
