Assam, Feb 07: An 8-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two men in Borlangfer, Karbi Anglong, on February 3 during Saraswati Puja celebrations. The accused have been identified as Lalbabu Ram and Ajay Gurok have been arrested today.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Diphu Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

According to sources, the girl was returning home from school with her classmates when the two men dragged her to a secluded area and committed the crime.

The Adivasi Students’ Union has demanded exemplary punishment for the accused and strict action against the police personnel who allegedly played a role in the incident.

The district superintendent of police has assured that justice will be served, and the accused will be punished accordingly.
