Assam Monsoon: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma holds meeting to gear up to tackle possible floods

Guwahati, June 11: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday held an in-depth meeting with all the District Commissioners (DCs) & other officials for gearing up to tackle possible floods during this monsoon season.

HCM directed all the officials to be present on ground and to keep a tight vigil on the situation.

CM held the meeting via video conferencing.

CM Sarma also issued a series of directives to tackle the challenges posed by the monsoon season.

The instructions that have been issued are:

He asked the authorities to put National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). NDRF and SDRF always plays a major role in rescuing and protecting people in flood-hit areas.

CM also asked the authorities to visit embankment breach areas & monitor them. By closely monitoring the situation, the authorities can make decision accordingly.

He has asked to maintain roads in flood and landslide prone areas so that connectivity doesn’t get effected and evacuation could be carried out easily.

To check the availability of doctors & medicines in case of any medical emergencies that may arise during floods.

Also, to keep ample buffer & fodder stock. To make sure that sufficient food and water supply are available for the people in the flood-hit areas.

They have also been directed to allot dedicated phone numbers, so that people effected , or in case of any emergency they can reach ot for help and assistance.
