Dibrugarh, Sept 5: All PAN card details related to Bishal Phukan’s business and personal accounts have been sent to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the purpose of freezing his bank accounts.
The police will also seek expert assistance to audit the legitimacy of Bishal’s trading business. In short, they will obtain expert opinions to verify the authenticity of the trading-related documents Bishal submitted to the police.
Bishal Phukan’s biggest broker was Abhijit Chandra, who brought in almost half of the customers. Abhijit was arrested on Thursday and is currently in police custody.
Ranjit Kakati has been taken into police remand for three days. After being presented in court, he was brought to Sadar Police Station in the evening.
Bishal Phukan was arrested for duping hundreds of people by promising attractive returns in a short period of time through investments in the stock market. It is said that Phukan was able to amass crores from investors before his fraudulent activities came to light.
Meanwhile, Dibrugarh police have been investigating every angle related in connection with the case.
Dibrugarh police have served notice to Sumi Bora and her husband Tarkik Bora to appear before police in connection with online investment fraud.
After the arrest of Bishal Phukan, Sumi Bora and her husband has been absconding. According to police, Rajib Bora, partner of Bishal Bora and Jinki Milli has also been absconding.
Talking to media persons, Dibrugarh Additional superintendent of police(crime) Sizal Agarwal said, “We have registered two cases. One Bishal Phukan main accused in first case. A case no 352/24 u/s 316/318 BNS 21/23 sections of planning of unregulated deposit scheme Act. Similar section has been imposed against Ranjit Kakoti and we have arrested him. Ranjit Kakoti has done the scams through Trading FX platform. Bishal Phukan has done the scam through Persilia consultancy.”
