Boko, Dec 27: A tragic road accident in Lampara village, near Hahim under Boko Police Station in Assam, left more than 20 individuals from the Garo community injured on Friday evening. Of the injured, 15 are said to be seriously injured and taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for better medical treatment.
According to the locals, the victims, comprising of men and women from Santipur village in the Chaygaon Constituency, were returning from a funeral program in Bakrapara village near Hahim. They were traveling in a Tata Ace Gold luggage carrier (registration number AS 01 QC 3106) when the vehicle, reportedly over speeding, lost control, overturned, and fell into a roadside paddy field at Lampara village.
Hahim Police Outpost in-charge Lakhi Nandan Boro quickly responded to the incident and coordinated with ambulance services to transport the injured to Boko Primary Health Center. Additionally, Boko Police Station in-charge Rajib Nath and his team also arrived at the scene to manage the situation.
Emergency services were promptly deployed, with more than six ambulances, including 108 ambulance services, utilized to transport the injured. The police have initiated an investigation into the accident, and seized the vehicle involved, which is currently at the Hahim Police Outpost.
